My front end needs to be higher.

I'm curious to know what I can do to pick up about 2" in the front. It is a 2wd truck. I think just putting a new set of spring in would help, but I'm not sure they would give 2". I mainly want to be able to run 31s in the front as well as the back, but I would like the truck to sit level as well.

Thanks guys,
Gabe

my cousin got some new shocks for his 02 dodge (2wd 1500) and they make his truck sit about 2 inches higher. I think he got them from Bilstein - KYB - Rancho - Monroe - Edelbrock Automotive Truck Shocks and Struts - Shockwarehouse.com

That might be a possibility, the only thing I don't know is how long they would hold the truck up? as it sits right now the I beams are about an inch off the bumpstops.....

New shocks will NOT lift your truck any higher PERIOD! you'll need to get new springs to achieve any desired lift.

local spring shop can make taller springs, and keep the same spring rate so your ride will not be affected

they DID lift it. they're heavy duty shocks with springs on the outside of them. what do you think a leveling kit is?

a) It was not mentioned the shocks that did the lift where the leveling type. Anyone reading it would automatically think normal shock. Normal shocks (not air shocks or spring-loaded shocks) will not do anything to lift.

b) Gotta kick back and relax :-)

c) The only real solution would be replacement front springs. And might as well install new shocks, and sway bar bushings at the same time.

While I'm having tons of brain farts? If the truck is still looking a bit on the saggy side with new springs? Check your front radiator mount bushings. Ours where pretty well hosed, and the nose of the truck actually sat about 1-1/2" lower then it should. New bushings installed? Back to level.

Now ya'll have a good weekend!!!!!!

I went the cheep route and found a pair of F350 springs in a junk yard and put them in my F150 to give me a little more tire clearance.

Shocks DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT lift a vehicle! they are just that, shock absorbers, they are a dampening device, they in no way alter the ride height of your truck, never have, never will, it's mechanically impossible for them to do so, your trucks ride height is determined by your springs and a shock is not giong to lift it one bit, that's just nonsense if you think otherwise.

i got your back montana. shocks wont lift it. although doesnt dodge use a coilover shock? so maybe those shocks came with new taller springs on them, designed as a leveling kit for that particular application

That is correct Dodges use coil-overs and using a taller coil on the shock will lift the truck.
Normal shocks will not lift a truck.

I know the spring was what needs replaced, but what my question was was if anybody sells an off the shelf set of springs that will give the desired amount of lift?

Also, just or giggles, if anybody has relativly new spring on their 2wd f-100, what kinda space do you have between the bumpstops and the ibeams?

Thanks guys, Oh and I'll take a look at the rad mounts.

you'd have to know the original specs for coil diameter, spring diameter, uncompressed lenght and spring rate for your vehicle... and uncompressed lenght for 2 inches of lift to find out...

your local automotive spring shop could make them as cheaply as finding a set already made, may even have some in stock.

good luck!
