I think the big honkin' factory chrome grill looks great...I'd never swap it, but only put tighter inserts in for debris. The hole in the bumper behind the license plate holder needs something though.

Yep, that's why I bot the bottom grille. On my 2005, I bot stainless steel screening at a truck stop to protect the radiators. Once you take off the front license plate holder, there is NO protection for the radiator (s).
P.S. Not to go off topic, but when winter comes and you want to drive north, get the grille cover. I did, and with it comes a grille screen, which will also help protect the radiator (s). Not a Ford part.
No to highack a thread, but anyone got pics of the inserts with smaller openings to stopd the radiators from getting beat up on an 08 SD...
I have some stainless steel inserts on my 08. they have small oval holes and look really good. I will get some pics and try to post. These look better than the lund ones on my 05 sd. These came from stylin trucks but i can't remember brand but i could find them.
Love the spider web insert, but $479.00 my truck and I might not get supper for many a night. Further, if you read up review, it is made from aluminum and definitely would color different than grille over time.
Thegrille insert is about what I bot. It is 6 pieces and simple to install, although I had it installed. PROBLEM with it, that don't tell you, you need to buy the seventh piece that fits inbetween the gap in the bumper. A photo from a few months ago of mine:
I totally disagree with "MONSTA". The 08 SD front end is beautiful. Carrige works makes a polished chrome grille insert set that has wider billets and you cannot see through it to the point that it is an eyesore. It is dark and it is raining right now because of tropical storm "FAY" so I will send a picture next time.
I happened to be online for your response. I personally find the new front end to be bold and strong looking. I respect your opinion I just don't agree. I guess thats why they make different flavors and colors. Right?
You have a great looking truck. What are you getting for mileage?
GWCON
I have a tool box under the ARE truck cap and about 1,500 # of tools, chains, etc. That also makes for a super ride.
Empty, with the above, remember, a dually, a little less than 12 around town and easy on the pedal.
Pulling my Bob Cat, T-180 with a backhoe and bucket, down to 8 mpg. Same with a box trailer, lighter, about 9 mpg.
No customization to engine or drive train. Straight factory w 4.11 rears. I traded in my 2005 which was identical with a 6.0, but not near the 6.4 2008 truck. So many more features and creature comforts. Both trucks were King Ranch, long bed.
