I use a eight-inch drop hitch, but it's solid 6061-T6, and it only hauls about 3000 pounds.

I still accelerate and stop as slowly as practical, and use good chains.

Thanks for the reminder on this! Solid steel is even better!

This thread makes me curious what weight rating mine is at. I'm going to have to check it out this weekend.

I know it's heavy, weighs probably 20 or 25 lbs or so.

I agree with there not being much penetration on that weld.

its not..that is total weight..glad every one and every thing is ok...

Glad that you didn't loose the trailer and caught it in time but I have to agree with Ron. The tounge weight on that type of ball mount is around 500lb/5000lb gross.
