I my case, yes.
I had my uncle's collection of 'Classic Illustrated' comic books from the early forties.
He took them back, and still has them.
I don't know what they're worth.

Probably, lost interest after that, ther were a lot from 60's that my uncle had given me and a the rest from tthe 70's.

Yes. I think so.
Vendors are 'supposedly' experts and know what the items are worth,
and know how to wheel and deal.
