hello, i just wondering how you guys out there think this might sound........a 2008 f250 5.4l truck with 3" in pipe to a flowmaster series 10 muffler with a y pipe out and dual 3" pipes out of the y pipe with 4" chrome tips
Thanks for any impute on this topic
Its hard to screw up the sound of an american V8. I think it would sound good but it would be very loud and harsh. I think you'd be better off with a larger capacity muffler on that truck buts thats just me. Dual 3" pipes out is overkill. Dual mandrel bent 2.5" pipes will outflow a single 3.5" dia pipe maybe even a 4".
yeah thats true but the exhaust intake is 3" so i would have to run 2.5" from the header back >?
Run a single 3"IN/Dual 2.5" OUT muffler. Theres no advantage to running a true dual exhaust IMO on many late model trucks because there is no room to run the exhaust pipes down each side of the truck. The pipes have to be routed side by side down one side of the truck thus yielding uneven length pipes. I would cut the muffler off right in front of the stock muffler, put on the SIDO muffler and run the two tailpipes where you please.
first, i would look at the cherrybomb extreme muffler (single chamber muffler) it is same thing as the flowmaster 10 for 30-40 bucks cheaper (depending where you buy). just a thought. (I might have suggested that once before in an exhaust question you had, so sorry if im repeating that idea.)
second im running a Si/So 3" extreme muffler on my '00 and it is loud but once you get to 55mph it is barely louder than the stock muffler. i dont know what the effect duals will do to the sound though, so i cant comment on that just what i know first hand.
just a note. the sound wont be as loud as a car or a 150 due to the cats on these trucks, not even straight pipe is all that loud compared to most vehicles.
i have posted this video up here a few times when people asked about the single chamber mufflers but this is off a V10, while the V10 and V8 dont have the exact same sound this is real close to what the muffler sounds like on these trucks. (this is not my truck though)
