hello, ive got an 05 stx supercab 4x4 with a 4.6 62k mi
i kept hearing a rattling noise while cruising under a load and would go away when i let off the gas so i assumed spark know.
cleaned maf
ran octane booster
had 3 stage fuel injection cleaning done
anyway it turns out its a bad EGR diaphram making a grinding noise. if you unplug the vacuum line it goes away
my question is, can i just plug the vacuum line and drive the truck without problems? or do they make an egr eliminator yet for these trucks? no emissions checks here, and dont want to spend 200+ at ford for a new valve
thanks
If I remember correctly, when you replace the EGR valve, the replacement comes with a blank sticker that needs to have the original OEM part number printed on it and affixed to the replacement. The replacement part #s are changed ever so often and if yours ever goes out the original part # is needed to match up to the current # on the replacement. Not sure if this applies to Motorcraft, they may retain the same part #.
thanks guys.......81.19 at autopartswarehouse.com shipped! and its the new in a box motorcraft valve.
anyway everyone keep this in mind when you or someone thinks theyve got spark knock. it sounded just like it, and acts like it too when the engine is cruising under a load
just never had an egr make noise like this though.....
