Injector Install

I am getting ready to replace my injectors. Is this an easy driveway job or do I need a shop and a diesel mechanic? Does anybody got a writeup on how to do it?

Yes injectors can be installed in the driveway. Be carefull not to bend the steel fuel lines because they have a inner coating that will crack and flake off and clog the injectors if bent to far. Check out the following link for how to replace the injectors.

Also it is a very good idea to have your new injectors pop tested and adjusted if necessary before you install them.
Good luck.

Look in the local phone book for a diesel injection service that has Stanadyne listed.

injector replacement is terribly easy, just make sure you get the old copper gaskets out.

Well I got my injectors and got them pop tested. I was told that they were good. I installed them and no more leaking... Whoop! Now though it runs rough at idle.

I cracked the lines and waited to see fuel. Then I got the truck started and it was running rough. I figured that it was air in the lines, so I cracked them again and saw fuel coming out. Did I miss something or do I need to bleed them longer?

you ma try to crack the lines one at a time wen eng is running if it gets worse then that one is working if no change then I would pull that one and get it re tested. I replaced one injector this year the new one was no good I was lucky we tested it before it went in .
Just my 2 cents worth

Drive it a short distance, or just let it run for a couple minutes.

It takes a while for all of the air to work it's way out of the system.
