Ok guys, how do I keep the dome light (and bed light) from turning on when I open the doors? And when I turn off the ignition key? And when I unlock the doors with the keyless entry system? There are alot of times I don't want the light to come on, especially since it always turns on the bed light too.
The truck is a brand new 2002 F-250 XLT. The owner's manual says to turn the dimmer to the lower detent, but there is no lower detent (like in most cars/trucks). Am I missing something here?
i just had my car serviced at the ford dealership. There was a guy there having trouble with the `dome` light comming on/off all kinda things going on for him...(Ford Truck NEW)
OK the `tech/manager said that everything is controled by a module ....that is the entry light system. door switches, interior lights dash lights..etc.....

I have had similar situations with various vehicles. The easiest solution is to use standard Bosch automotive relays to interrupt the wire that feeds the lights. You may need two relays if you cant locate the point where the wire splits, or if there are two separate wires from the module. Wire the relay so the normally closed contacts allow the lights to function normally, and put a switch on the dashboard to energise the relay for blackout mode. You can do a brakelight kill the same way. I do it using the output of a Whelen siren control head to as a relay switch.
Someone on the forum should be able to tell you what wire and where to interrupt is.
