1957 vin plate
Hi all, This is my first post in your forum.
I just got a 1957 f150 ,that i have not even seen yet.
We live in Ohio, and the truck is in west Texas. We got it off the original owner and he knows my wifes brother,so the truck is sitting in my brother in laws barn till i can get down there to bring it to Ohio.
My question is ,where is the vin plate located? On my old truck it was on the glove box door, but it may be on the door jam? are the numbers stamped any place on the frame?
Thanks Russ

I believe on a '57 it should be on the drivers side door jamb, but I've seen one that had it on the passenger side jamb also.
Quite possible it could be on the glovebox door too if it was late '57.
Numbers on the frame are stamped on the top passenger side right behind the engine, if the rust has'nt erroded it away by now.

Welcome Russ and Irene to the wonderful world of refrigerators. I know I was puzzled the first time I heard that term as well but it seams it was one of the nicknames given to the 57-60 line of body styles.
And looking at some pictures from those years of kitchen appliances I can see why ;-) Don't tell anyone here but I always thought the earlier trucks, the ones they like to call the fat fenders looked more like Hoover vacuum cleaners.
I own a 1959 F100 4X4 I dunno if the numbers are in the same places but I found my VIN's on the top passenger side frame rail under the cab and right behind the shock mount next to the engine. The Vin tag was on the glove box door. Hope this helps...
