Door ajar light is on
Hi. I could use some help. I am sure this topic has been discussed before, however, I am not able to locate past discussions about my concern.
My '99 F350 has developed a problem where the door ajar light is on when the truck is running, but all the doors are securly closed. The interior lights are on, but they go off after about 1 minute. The door ajar light continues to stay on for another 2 to 3 minutes and it goes off. This problem occurs only when the truck has been sitting in the sun and the cab is warm inside. (For instance, I go out to start the truck on a Saturday morning to run errands.) It does not do this when the truck is cold.
I've taken it to my Ford dealer and they replaced the door switches on all four doors (I have a crew cab).
I noticed this morning when I left for work in the dark that the window switches on all four doors are illuminated. The interior lights are off, the headlights are off as well. I do not think this is normal.
Is my GEM (General Electronics Module) giving me problems? Is Ford reluctant to replace this unit since I imagine they're costly?

Door ajar light is on
My father's Ranger does the same thing. We have replaced all you have, plus some. The only fix we have found is spraying the door latch, and sensor with TV/Electronic cleaner and lubricant. We gotit from Radio Shack. It works for about 6 months before we have to spray it again.
Still don't know what it is coming from. If you find out, I would sure like to know...
