which header??

hello all, I wanted to hear some first-hand experience stories with headers on a 77 2wd w/351M.(I have a 3 on the tree)

I have seen a few sets for around $200 hedman, hooker, etc.
I would like to hear the pro's and con's from people who actually have them before I decide which set to get.

Any starter heat issues?? any fitment issues?? any other long-tube header suggestions??

thanks in advance for your time!

I have Flo Tech hedders on my 76 (FE powered, not M) and they seem to fit pretty good. I have installed Headmans on a truck like mine and was very pleased with the quality and fit.

I have a 78 with a 400 in it and i have Headman longtube headers on it. They seemed to fit really good and have been running them for a year and havn't heard a leak yet. Only problem was installing them had to take off the front driveshaft to get the drivers side in there. Over all a very good set.

I have had no heat soak problems. I did replace all the original battery cables with heavier cable when I installed the 352.

Look into having the headers ceramic coated, inside and out. Ceramic coating will help to get the hot exhaust out of the header faster and it will contain the heat better than a rattle can of manifold paint sprayed on the outside.....just my .02 worth.

When I first bought my truck it had headers on it and th stupid people that had it before me didnt bother to get the collecters welded up so it was extremly loud. When we tried to get the exhaust welded up it just warped the flange, and they never sealed right so 700 bucks later and two weeks bein in the shop they put some manifolds on and ran a chunk of pipe to were the old one was. then two days after that it through two rods on me cause it was so loud you couldnt listen for a rod knock. So I have serious issues with headers.
