I wonder if they make the cops experience the tazer before graduation. I took some classes at the Rio Hondo academy and they made us do the gas experience. Would NOT care to do it again, thank you very much.

i will pass on the epileptic thank you very much....but yes i belive that most police accadamis do that as part of the training so you "know how it feels" when you are tazing the suspects...

 

I know Long Beach does, and I know the LASD does. I really struggle with trying to understand why.

i would end up needing extra batteries for my tazer if i were a cop, man i would be tazing everyone!

 

Bill they do have to experience it. I crossed trained as an officer where I work short of getting the special police commision and had to go through pepper spray training. I do not recommend getting peppersprayed. It sucks.

All I ever did was take shooting classes at the academy. I was not looking for a LEO career. The Rio Hondo academy used to open their shooting range classes up to the community.

I didn't know that. The Long Beach academy used to be open to the public also, but that was many, many moons ago.
