I had a couple of minutes so I thought I'd change out my gray cps with the new black one I got from DP Tuner. I've had a miss ever since they did the recall. Put the socket on the bolt and applied some torque and there was no give. Thought to myself this bolt is in pretty tight so I give it a little more umph and break my socket. I put a box end on it and it just slipped off. Gonna get a 6 point impact socket tomarrow and hook the air ratchet up to it. Glad I didn't have to change this on the road somewhere. Just venting but the dealership has me a little irritated that they would feel the need to torque a small bolt on so tight.
I broke a 12 point socket on a buddy's truck but a 6 point got it right off. Yup, a 6 point Mac Tools brand 10mm socket is in the glove box. Good luck.
If this was mine and the dealership put it on, I would have them take it off. Or at least loosen it. If you break the head off the bolt, you have a mess that won't be fun to fix. If they break it, that is their problem as they put it on. Just some friendly advice.
Well, got it out. Used a 6 point reg. socket with a 1/2 in. ratchet and applied some steady pressure until it gave. Replaced the gray cps with a black one. Engine seems to run a little smoother but haven't had a chance to test drive it yet. I hope this cures my miss.
