Alrighty in my race truck when in the mud boucning off the 6500 rev limiter i have tossed the power steering belt on a couple of occaasions already with the new motor, now i'm concerned with overheating if this happens at the beginning of a run. Now my question is, does anyone see any issues with swapping the alternator belt to spin the water pump and the power steering to run off just the crank?
Now i know why i'm tossing the power steering belt (the pump is vibrating from the caviation at 6grand+ rpm's throw that in with turing 38's in at least 2' deep mud, i do have a underdrive crank pulley to slow down the alt. and powersteering, i will also be installing a high volume alum. water pump) but would like to still keep the water pump spinning if i loose the power steering belt, will this work, i don't see any issues with it but would like outside input before i do this.
nope there will be no issue there, iv done it in emergency cases when ive broke a belt, anyways make sure every pulley is lined up straight to the crank, this could cause the belt breaking....
