If you don't mind, tell me about the projector head lamps. Where can one obtain them and such.....labor involved.......a fellow not far from where I live had them on an Excursion that he has since sold, but I never spoke to him about them.
10k for the color has pretty much the worst output available. the lower the temp, the higher the output. 4300-5000 is the best for output. the reason for the 747 thing is because of the quantity of lights and the horrible glare. the truely best way is to do a set of custom fabbed hid projectors into your factory headlights.
Nice Racer! where did you get the projectors? Could you explain how you did it?
Thanks!
Has anyone tried to retrofit the OEM HID from a Navigator?
since our only has a single bulb for both hi/low, i bought a set of bixenon hid projectors out of a range rover and then opened up my factory headlights and custom mounted the hid projectors inside my lights. very time consuming and cost a couple hundred too. but so well worth it. i never blind anyone since i have them aimed properly and REAL hid projectors have a specific cutoff so not to throw light in every direction.
I am waiting until the new projector headlight assembly from Anzo USA is out before I install an HID kit in my 07 Expy. They should be out after the SEMA show in Vegas this November.
Thank you, I went to their web site last evening and missed seeing them. I've invested in the HID's, I'll try them and if they don't produce,I can change them out.......................
They do make an HID kit for the fogs, but if you look at must cars and SUV's that come with factory HID setups the fogs are almost always standard halogen. Mot will tell you there is no real advantage to HID fog lights other then looks.
I tried the HID conversion kit and ended up taking it out because something in the daytime running lights messes up the lights - the tech tried to explain it to me (polarity and voltage, etc.) but the bottom line is they kept blinking on and off and would not come back on for a while.
I am back to my PIAA's but would love some help with this problem.
thanks
that's it? I thought the technician at the truck specialty store would tell me that but no such luck. Thanks for the tip - I will re-attack this again.
You have an awesome Excursion!!
thanks again
Just be sure that the fuse only controls the drl's. If not, unplug the drl module if its not built into the body module. I'm not sure on the expy. The reason they don't work correctly is because the drl's are only at about 70 percent voltage. The hid ballast needs full voltage to ignite the arc in the bulb.
