After contacting LMC Truck and receiving a brand new driver side hinge....my hood still comes up doing over 50 on the highway.....is there any reason why this should be happening.....I am about to loss my mind out....H...E...L...P......P...L...E...A...S...E!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!
dont waste your time ,i bought new hinges from blue oval truck parts and they suck,i tried and tried to adjust it ,no luck , thats why everyone goes with the front tilt set up. i heard tci has a good kit.
was on here posting stolen truck parts note and saw your post. If the hood is raising in the back, the front hood dowel may be hitting the strike plate, this is a common problem and may be an easy fix. The hood jars against the striker and eventually comes up. Also the hood hinge itself may not be seated enough, the arms should point forward and down in the closed position, (like you could see them enough to tell) The hood hinges from oval are now off the market, I think, they were not any good. There are 2 front tilt kits I know of, one made by no limit and one classic performance is now making, which we colaberated on. Both are fine. Remember to remove the safety latch and if you do we buy them. Thanks and good luck, Sy
It is becoming rather rare to see the front opening hoods at shows anymore. Everyone is switching it seems. I am one of the few who still runs the stock hinges. If adjusted properly...they work just fine.
Listen to Sy on this stuff. She knows what she is talking about.
I love the look of the alligator opening hood on the 55. I bought new hinges for mine and they hold the hood down at well over 100mph. I just followed the instruction the guys on here gave me. I still have to do a bit of the f100 hood okey kokey but once down it stays down.
If you do a search on here for hood hinges you should find all the info.
I think from memory I moved the front dowel forward, Sy will sell you some good ones wont ya Sy. Or the tilt if you want.
