I am trying to get rid of my current truck for a 2001. I have a 2000 F150 Lariat with the 5.4, limited slip and just about every option except 4x4. Having only 8,500 miles I am not sure what to ask for it. I put it in our local bargain trader for $23,000 but did not get any calls. Personally I don't think this is a bad price at all. Am I asking too much?
Hi Wolverine, normally I'd say your price was set right. KBB says the trade-in for your truck is $20,980 and the Used Retail is $25,560. Split the difference and that's a selling price of $23,270. I think the problem is it's only a year old and you usually take more of a bath when you keep them that short of a time. You may have to go a little lower but not under $21,000, that's what a dealer would give you in trade.
A problem I see is your getting ready to take another bath buying an '01 when the '02s will be coming out in four months.
It's just a personal thing but, I don't like to take THAT many baths, it makes my skin all wrinkly.
