can anyone help me with the removal of the rotors from a 1982 f150 4x4 i have a chiltons but it only shows '1976-79 internal type' hubs then goes to 'external type f250 only' i'm confused
Your hubs should be close to the same as the 76-79. You have to take all the 4wd hub stuff out, then take the lock rings and outer wheel bearing out, take the caliper off, and then slide the rotor and hub off as an assembly. Then drive the wheel studs out, and the rotor will seperate from the hub.
To remove the hub, first separate the cap assembly from the body assembly by removing the 6 socket head capscrews from the cap assembly and slip apart.
Remove the snapring from the end of the axle shaft.
Remove the lock ring seated in the groove of the outer wheel hub. The body assembly will now slide out of the wheel hub. Use an appropriate puller to remove the body assembly, as needed.
Reinstall the hub in reverse order of removal. Torque socket head capscrews to 30-35 inch lbs.
