Alright im out at my dads this weekend and I looked at it and heres what I got.
13lb cap not sure how new
fan blows a good breeze at idle also I spun it by hand and the next blade dont pass where I marked.
Im startin to lean toward the thermostatbein clogged. I also am wonderin if the radiator is just clogged up cause its never been flushed.
i have the same problem. ive just given up. mine boils over at 210 and keeps the needle between 190 and 210. i replaced the thermostat which helped a lot, and flushed the rad, checked the water pump, and replaced the cap. its helped a lot with the boiling over. i did have a problem when i let it idle for a while when i was charging the battery back up. but other than that its been fine.
yeh i have a bit of a problem with my temp its a 302 and ive got an after market water temp gauge below the dash ill get up to bout 215 or 220 in bad heavy traffic then ill turn my heater on and itll get back down to about 200 or 205 and its livable but i have change the thermostat, a fan clutch change as well and also a radiator flush is all coming tommorrow ima do it all at once to get it over with
Take the cap off when it is cool, and turn it over and look under the rubber flap and check the brass piece under the rubber to make sure it's not cracked. An engine should not boil over a 210 degrees. The pressure cap is what keeps it from boiling over. The higher the pressure, the higher the temp before it does boil over.
