I have the same problem and its driving me crazy. Shown it to a couple of local mechanics and they couldn't figure out the problem.
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT - a little less than 45,000 miles.
Whenever I try to brake the ABS just kicks in - usually at low speeds. So the only issue is a problem with the ABS sensor?
Please help...kinda a newbie here...
Thanks.

Just had a similar problem with my Escape. Turned out to be the ring was cracked at the speed sensor. Cost about $35 at the dealer.

I had the same problem as flybaby with a 05 F350. Ring was cracked at the speed sensor.
