Well after some recent wheeling adventures, Ive noticed that my truck pulls hard up to about 3200rpm. at about 3500 it seems to be choking out.
At a dead stop i can rev the engine to about 4k before it start to choke out.
My first guess is heads? Ive heard numorus times that they are a big restriction on the motor. So is this whats choking out my motor? Im happy with the power up to 3k for now, just wondering whats choking it off?
Clogged air filter or exhaust.
Degraded plug wires
Fouled plugs
Bad coil.
Failing TFI module
The list goes on...
Some more info on the "performance mods" you have would be good as well. There is no reason the motor should not rev to the rpm limiter is everything is in good working order.
Oh the motor will rev, up to 5k, idk where the limiter is at, but i dont feel safe goin much more than that, it just wont pull that far. If im stopped in neutral, it will go to 5, just takes a sec.

OK.. I think I understand you now, the motor will rev but power output stops building.. right? If so what you are experiencing is basically how the motor was designed to operate. The stock cam has really short duration, and the heads and intake are really small for this much displacement. Factory specs have it reaching peak HP at 3600rpm, and take it form me, without upgrading the heads and intake a different cam doesn't extend the powerband much, though it does produce more HP and TQ below 4500rpm.
