Transfercase shift motor
Had to replace that piece of crap today. I am glad I was in the yard screwin around instead of buried 4 ft deep in mud and really needed it.
To the question. Has anyone ever fabbed up some kind of custom actuator to engage the 4wd? I was trying to think of something today but no ideas were found. I had to pay 70 bux for it. Working now but it really bothers me.

If a man was really motivated, he would find a manual t-case from a pre-98 ranger or a manual t-case from a 2002 OR 2003 FX4 level II and swap it in and be done with that electric crap. Thats part of the reason I went back to a 88, a manual t-case and lock out hubs. I did a search once on ranger transfer cases, and there were a bunch of sites that poped up that had rebuilt ones, including the manual cases. Also I'm sure there's some in the boneyards in rangers and even some manual t-case explorers in the earlier years.

For those that might still be interested, I am in the process of designing something to be used in place of the electric motors... most likely will consist of some of the original motor parts without the motor... I will try to keep you posted! If it works, I will be selling it commercially... I run a cnc for my workplace....
