fixed the return lines
I am in the process of rebuilding the old girl. I have the whole interior out of it. I am having the seats redone and new carpet is coming in this week.I was thinking of changing my injectors because I have no idea when they were last replaced.
On a side note. The truck really needs the glowplugs to run for a few extra seconds for it to start, even when warm.I live in florida I shouldnt need them but a few times a year.A little help from the experienced would help.
Thanks again
But using glow plugs sure does save the starter, which is rather expensive.
Diesel does not autoignite till close to 500 degrees.
Even at 100 degrees ambient air temp, one compression stroke to raise cylinder temps from 100 to 500 degrees is asking a lot from the starter.
There is a lot of metal that is soaking up the heat from compression.
If you still had air in the injection lines, it will cause the injection pressure to drop more slowly and inject more fuel than it would if the injection lines only contained fuel.
I would try running it again, if the fuel smell continues, then you have an injector that is leaking, possibly more than one.
With the cost of fuel these days, and the cost of injectors, a new set may pay for themselves rather fast if you drive your truck very much.
