Help!!! No lights in back!!

Hey guys, please help! I have a problem with all the lights in the back of my truck! The reason I need this fixed is I am in the D.C. area, cops are a hassle, and I'm young with a loud truck and I'm sure I'm gonna get it if I don't fix this and I have a job interview tommorow!!!

*Problem: No lights at ALL in the back of the truck.. tried reverse lights, brake lights, turn signals, hazards, NOTHING. Turn signal bulbs stay illuminated. Hazards come on, but not in the back.

*Possible cause could be the trailer wiring harness thingy back there, it was hanging down and I wrapped it around the frame, maybe the metal part touched the frame and short circuited? Or something?

*Checked the fuses.. WHY would all the lights not work? Wouldnt more than one fuse blow? I dont think any of the fuses for the lights looked blown but I could always be wrong and sometimes these things are hard to spot... and it was dark.

Please help guys. I didn't touch anything, don't know what would make -all- of these lights go out.

Help!!! No lights in back!!

Grrrrr! I just got out of the freakin' neighborhood to get to the job interview and I got a warning from a cop!!!!! ARGH!!! Man I need some help here...

Ok, well here is what I've found out..

*hazard lights work fine

*has a trailer wiring harness installed, some of the wires have split connectors BEFORE the connectors to the tail lights, etc. One of the wires doesn't have a connector, the ground wire from the harness was installed into the ground wire where the insulation was cut from the wire and just wrapped around the bare wire and taped.. LOTS OF electrical tape back there.. ugh..

So, I'm guessing the end of the trailer harness wire kit thingy whatever the metal part hit the frame and caused a short circuit maybe? I dont know.. but what would cause the problem? All my fuses are -fine-... please help guys I have no transportation and I'm broke and I hope I didn't lose any chance of getting this job..

Help!!! No lights in back!!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-May-02 AT 04:27 PM (EST)]Oh, btw, when I said ground wire I assumed it was because it was black on the harness... well its just a black wire used to extend the wires from the harness.. got the harness off..the wire that was spliced.. should I cut it and clamp it back together with a connector? It seems like that part that was exposed may be corroded? I dont know but I really need to fix this soon I've been waiting for some kind of response someone please help I need to go out and do some things and I got pulled once and I'm scared I'll get run into here in D.C... thanks guys...
