electrical draw

Hey Guys I have an 83 bronc that has a bad elec problem. 1st off is the guy I got it from seized the 351 efi dropped in a 302 carbed hacked all the wires threw in a toggle switch for ignition on I tried to eliminate it but when I turned the switch (key) it still kept running.2nd while driving and or idling turn on the lights there is a serious amperage draw which affects the motor causing it to idle down and rough, amp meter not showing any real draw but it very noticable.Any ideas will be greatly accepted cause I like my bronco.
thanks
bill

Well, 83 didn't have efi that I know of, but that's not really relevant to what I am going to say. First, you will have to get a wiring diagram for the year of the body and wiring harness of the bronco. You may be able to buy them on this website, or go get a Haynes manual, since the one they print does have some wiring diagrams in the back. Then you could look at an earlier model, like an 1980 which did have a carb, and use it as a pattern for how to hook up the later model wiring.
