A while ago I took my IDM out,I was going to mod it, but seen how small everything was, and I just couldn't do it. I seen this little black thing, half falling off, so i took it off and taped over it. What was it? was it a vent or something? maybe i shouldn't have taped over it?

You are seeing my IDM, with a hole in it, you can see the circuit board I just taped over it is that ok, or was there a vent or something there? Will it be ok taped
Should be fine, don't think it would need air as there are no moving parts to to cool. It does seem it would need to be sealed against moisture. Never had mine out so I can't compare. Maybe someone who has pulled theres will jump in soon.
