problem with shifter
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I really need help with this. My problem is with my shifter. I was leaving work, as I was pulling out onto the street, I was shifting into 2nd, when all of the sudden the entire shifter was loose as hell, pivoting almost in 180 degree turns. I found 5th gear (barely) and drove it like that all the way home. I got home and disassembled the boot and the plate that goes over the top over the transmission. I took the bolts out and removed the shifter. There are two grooves in the pivot of the shifter and there was a broken, what looked like, pin in one of the grooves. Where I am thinking where the other pin should have been, there was not one. My question is, is that was keeps the pivot from swing all over the place and if so how hard is it to fix this problem. I am also going to flush the transmission after everything is repaired.
