Spark plug wiggle

1990 - f150 - I-6 - E4od

I replaced the cap, rotor, coil, plugs, and wires. Also I cleaned out the intake, and fuel injectors. When I got my wrench on one of the spark plugs I noticed that there was play in it. I pulled the socket off and grabbed one and holy ******...I could fully remove the plug with about a half turn of the threads with my HAND! 1 spark plug was in there tight, 1 semi-tight, and the rest super super loose!!!

What kinds of effects did this have on my engine? I suppose the obvious problem would be compression. Anything else? Could this cause permenant damage?

The only codes I was having were a code 41 (HEGO LEAN) an O2 sensor code and some tranny codes because I need a new tranny.

No permanent damage. Blow all the dirt and crap away from the spark plugs with air, remove them, use some anti-seize on the threads, and tighten them back down good. Not too tight or you'll be looking for a new head.

I would say that is the reason for your lean condition that you were seeing on the O2 sensor.

Really? I have been chasing that code down for awhile now and if this fixes it I will be so happy!

loose plugs were not helping the cpu get correct readings.

reset the computer after solving the plug problem.

you are using motorcraft coppers, right?
