More smoke

A buddy of mine from UTI (read totally Broke) was asking how he can get more smoke out of his 2001 PSD without spending a lot of cash, well I was clueless but I told him if it can be done you guys would know. Any ideas.

Without power mods like a chip, he can always restrict his airflow.

Well he can drop the money on a DP-Tuner get a 140 agressive or Super Smoke tune for his truck. Barry I am digging the signature reps left!

Well he deff dont have the cash for a dp so out of the question. Restrict air flow huh is that even a good idea

Nope, more air is better. Just being sarcastic. Sorry. Not much he can do to increase his smoke without increasing his fueling ability. Remind him that smoke is fuel and fuel is expensive. Save the fuel for now, get the DP tuner later and make all the smoke he wants.

You know I said the same thing but he wants to bellow with the big boys. I keep telling him just save for a DP

actually I don't think that would make much smoke. . . the map sensor would read no air and wouldn't put in any extra fuel. . . at least not enough to smoke.

Run the truck at 8,000 Ft thats how high I am right now and my 6.0 and 7.3 both smoke like a freight train untill the turbo kicks in and my 6.0 has no performance mods. Every diesel here smokes!!

I vote to disconnect one or more of the injectors... He will get alot of smoke that way. Did he say he wanted it to be black smoke?

He can bellow with the big boys, but they won't notice his smoke with all of their smoke in front of him. Just because you can blow smoke don't mean he can run with the big dogs. If he wants power, then he needs to save up and do it right, otherwise he is just going to embarrass himself, or worse, tear something up trying.
