Engine Manifold Paint

Hello. I'm restoring a 1955 F350 with a 223ci I6 engine. I have already painted the block and head yellow with POR-15 engine paint. I have read a lot of conflicting information on the type and color of paint for the intake and exhaust manifolds (Black, Silver, Aluminum). Anyone know what the correct color was for that engine? Also, will regular POR-15 engine paint work or should I get their paint that tolerates 1000 degrees F?

I haven't tried the engine paint but I know the regular POR-15 will not hold up because I did try that. My guess is that you need the 1000 degree paint.

They make high temp paint for one reason, to keep paint on hot parts. I would use the high temp paint. You could have the exhaust manifold "jet coated". Mine has 40,000 miles on them and they still look great.

Intake manifold should also be yellow. The valve cover a light gray color. I used Eastwood cast iron manifold spray can for my exhaust manifolds and it has held up well.
