Installing Husky Liners

I got a 98 F-150 4x4 on the floor and Manual Trans. I have everything ordered. I was wondering if my idea would work. Heres my idea, I want to lay the Husky Liners down but cut the carpet underneath them out just so its carpet under and behind the seats and no carpet under the Husky Liners. Do you think this will work alright?

My first question is why? My second question is have you seen Nifty Xtreme+ one piece floor liners?

Carpet reduces the noise and helps keep the temperature down. Removing it will give you alot more road noise. Secondly, those liners are designed to go down over something (carpet or vinyl), removing that will change how they fit and stay in place. I would reconsider.

Because I don't like carpet! No I havent seen Nifty Xtreme+. (Wish I had of) I forgot to mention I was going to cut the carpet out (because its stained and I tried eveyrthing to get it clean but just cant) and lay down a cloth sound barrier to replace the carpet just in case the carpet decides to stink later on down the road. Just a thought.

If you hate carpet, I'd lay down vinyl before the floor mats. I haven't seen molded vinyl in a while, but you might get lucky at your local upholstery shop. It will be easy to clean and work great as a sound deadener. Worst case, I put down indoor/outdoor carpet, it's cheap and you can hose it off.

I looked every where for the molded vinyl and couldnt find any. Thanks for your help. I have already ordered the mats so I am going to try them the way they are supposed to be installed (with the carpet underneath) and see how it works. After all I can always return them! Thanks again.

You can get the rubber floor covering for an XL or base truck from Ford. Thats where I got mine. They have other ones available in JCWhitney etc. You could check ebay or a salvage yard for it. I think with the newer trucks it is only available in black.

I like my floor liners...when they get dirty I can take them out and hose them off.

Sounds like you found what you needed. Here's for anyone else that might be in the same boat.
