I just picked up a 1987 F150 with a 302. When I start the truck the voltage gauge reads not charging at all yet when I pull the negative cable off the battery post it is charging way to the positive side of the gauge. Hook the cable back up and it reads just to the positive side of center on the gauge (where it should be). I shut the truck off and the same thing happens. What is the problem if anyone knows.
