help with 88 tranny

i have a 1988 f150 xlt lariot with the straight 6 init it has a 300 motor in it it is a 5 speed maunual tranny
my problem is when shifting through gears i have to press the peadle all the wayto the floor and then some for the clutch to work
i bleed the system but no bubbles or nothing
i was told it is the slave cyilinder
i was also told this tranny had the round slave in it thats behind the clutch plate and everything
my question is is this correct or could it be something else and also have anyone done this befor change a slave out maybe someone could explain how to do this maybe with pictures too please help

Have someone work you clutch while you watch the master from under the hood. Two bits says it wiggles. Firewall flex, rust and cracking was a problem with '80s trucks and it shows up first in reduced clutch effectiveness just as you describe.

If you find it, there may still be a plate available to fix it--this was a TSB (or a recall?) at the time.

Look for the "FTE Partsguy" and inquire if you need it.

thanks so much that makes sence but this truck has no rust at all but theres a possibility of a weak spot on the fire wall ill check and post my findings thanks

i found out wat it was it is the bracket that connects to the clutch pedal and brake pedal the bracket broke off
