My 08 450 super duty had the rear end go out while I was on vacation on july 8th. The bolts that hold the bearing carriers in the housing broke allowing the ring gear to move in the housing and contact the housing wall almost wearing a hole through it. It is now aug 4th and Ford is still unable to come up with the parts to fix it(dealer indicated it would require another whole complete housing due to the metal contamination throughout). Anybody out there had this problem, or am I the only lucky one?
Sorry about your luck. I haven't heard anyone having this problem but then again maybe no one posted about it. Anyway at least you get a bump to see if anyone else as had the problem.
First off... Welcome aboard. And sorry about the truck, breakng down sucks.
Secondly, I would like to try squeezing more details out of you..... nothing personal here, just asking whatever I can think of. Maybe one simple answer will trigger something with someone:
More specs on the truck? What job is it? So what were you doing when this happened? Driving unloaded or towing 15,000 lbs? How many miles did you have pre-trip? How many unloaded miles before towing if you were? Did you see any signs before it finally went out? What kind of history do you personally have with trucks like this, or is it your first one? Have you ever had any axle problems before or any regearing experiance, so you could share more technical details about the damage? Pictures? Does the dealership normally handle trucks, or are they an urban car dealer mainly? An other problems with the truck?
If you share more details, maybe someone can chime in with similar sympoms or experiances, maybe some that seem unrelated to the problem. Details never hurt anyone.
Third
