Doing some maintennance on my rig today and noticed a connector unhooked behind the battery. The truck has been running okay but I am concerned as to what this connector runs. It's a 3-pin connector right behind the battery and below the solenoid. I can't make what color of wires are coming out but I do see a green wire as one of them. I have been having some trouble with my back tank not working correctly, but solved this with a new fuel filter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have pics but can't attach them.
Erm... Mine is not connected either, it just goes into a plastic cap that is screwed into the fender wall. Probably for an option that neither of us have (and I thought I had all of them... )
Yes, it plugs into a connector on a harness passing underneath the battery. The plug and the receptacle reside between the battery and the smog can bolted to the right fender. I have pics I could email if interested....
Lt grn/red runs over to the alternator, is it the only one of the three leaving the connector of the three wires in it on the harness side?
Lt-green/red = Charge indicator light relay.
Other two look to be glow plug power/control from alt for diesel engine.
My 94 and 95 has that one, one with the lt-green/red wire going to the alt. Plus another four pin connector that goes no where, back just a little further in the same area. Both have a white cap covering them.
94 is plain jane, 95 has about everything "XLT". I suspect it has something to do with a diesel as well. I didn't look up the wire colors though.
If it is used on yours, that other 4 pin connector, follow the wires and see where they go.
