So i have an adjustable length push rod checker, and Im setting up my 460/532. I marked the valve stem tip completely black with a sharpie and after a couple tries I got my wear pattern dead center of the valve stem. I am using roller rockers, is there anything else I need to do or check before I get them measured at my machine shop and ordered? Thanks
- check for any interference between the rocker and valves at full lift and at zero lift. should have plenty of clearence at all lift ranges.
- check for clearance between rocker stud and rocker at all lifts. again should be lots of clearance.
- check the pushrod angle compared to the rocker arm seat. should not be any excessive angles at all lift ranges. more of a concern when using Chev BB rockers in the 460 than when using proper Ford rocker arms (the Chev uses a different cup angle than the Ford. lots of companies use the Chev rocker in Ford app as they both use 7/16" studs and the chev is 1.7 ratio while the Ford are 1.73)
