New clutch problems
Pulled transmission to replace slave cylinder. Replaced the original; clutch at the same time.
Did the work about 1000 miles ago. all of a suden the clutch wont disingage to shift. I have to start the truck in 1st then shift with out using the clutch. when i push in the clutch i hear a swishing and grinding sound. Like sand paper in metal . There is plenty of fluid in the master cylinder and the clutch pedal is tight. But when i push in the clutch pedal it wont disingage the clutch to let me shift.
Is there a simple fix or do i have to drop the trany and transfer to check things out? the throwout beaqring is part of the slave cylinder so it is new too.
Thanks,
Steve
Have you checked the fluid level in the transmission and transfer case?
Try bleeding the slave.
Did you remove the pilot bearing and replace it with a new one and grease it well?
Look for missing transmission and transfer case bolts that are allowing the assembly to get cocked to one side. Just put a socket (3/4'"?) on each bolt and make sure they are still snugged down.
