I keep blowing a fuse that stops my A/C compressor from functioning. The air is cold coming out when it works and it works for quite a while between new fuses. If it immediately blew the fuse I would be more concerned. It does seem to happen if I am on short trips and don't let the truck cool off much between. Was on a recent 1700 mile trip and it worked fine all the way, when I stopped for fuel I either let it run or stopped long enough to eat too. Now if I'm just running around doing errands, it has blown a couple times. It's a 10amp fuse #24 "Blend door/trailer relay". Any suggestions???? I'm on an assignment in Orem, UT. Trusted mechanic back in Iowa. Am not driving the truck much, just enough to keep it lubricated every week or two. It will cool off soon and I won't even need the A/C but will be in Florida this winter and want the A/C in top shape there.
I was looking at the wiring schematic for your '99. It looks like that the #24 fuse powers the blend door actuator and the a/c compressor. There could be an excessive amperage draw on either one of these circuits related to the a/c. I don't have a digital image I could send you of the diagram right now. But if you need one, I could scan the one in my manual and send it to you. PM me if you need it.
thanks for the reply Roland. I don't think I would get much use out of the schematic. Never could read them. I'm just wondering if I need to visit a local A/C shop before I head home, or just keep replacing the fuses a couple more times?
