Rear main seal replacement
I'm pulling the trans from my 91 F 250 2wd to get rebuilt and want to replace the rear main seal while I'm in there. I've read it's a pretty straight forward procedure. The one question I have is can I put the kit in with the sleeve even if it doesn't need it? I don't have the trans out and I'm on a timeline so I wanted to get the parts and have them when I got the trans out. I have to pay an hourly rate for the stall at the shop so I'm trying to be efficient and have the parts and Git R' Done!

Check your local Ford dealer for this kit, see if it is the same for your engine. It has the seal, speedy sleeve and installation tooland instructions. All you should need is Permatex Aviation #3 sealant for the speedy sleeve, seal and the flywheel bolts.

Thanks! The dealer was closed but checked at a parts store and they didn't have it but could order 3 different ones; rubber, teflon and something else. Will go to the dealer so it takes the guess work out of it for me. Thanks again!
