Are there any chips that really work?

I have a 2002 excursion 4x4 stock. I have heard stories about people getting 20+ mpg with chips but I never hear what brand. I average 14.6 city and 17ish hwy. Does any one know?

But don't expect a chip alone to take you from 14 to 20+mpg.

Quick question on the dp tuner. What is the difference between the reg. tow and code tow programs?

Thanks

The code tow programs keep the truck from throwing "soft codes" which are codes that don't set an SES light but are stored by the PCM.

Heck I dunno. Call Jody and tell him what you got, he'll set you up right. There is no cost difference so I'd go with the code tow, same benefits plus no codes... can't go wrong there.

Roger, if you're after ONLY the mileage gains of a chip, you may be able to achieve that with a 6637 air intake, muffler delete, and a 10kmod.

In fact, I would do the 6637, muff delete or high perf exhaust, and then once you decide that the DP is the only way to go youll be ready to rip.

The muff delete aparently gives 80% the flow of 4" exhaust, so budget comes into play.....

One important thing, make sure you have no turbo intercooler leaks, or exhaust leaks.

IF running a tuner, get an EGT guage.

Remember, even after all this crap, filling up will still make you walk funny for a few days.

Thanks, have the 6637 done, Will be getting exh. leak ( up-pipes) fixed next week and also adding magna flow 4" turbo back next week. I am looking at the chip because I tow a 5th wheel for camping and my Jeep (rock crawler) for playing. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
