Hey guys I am getting ready to freshen up the top end of my 400. I noticed there are amany many head gaskets to choose from.
I wanted to know which was a popular make/style to go with. I want to squeeze all the compression I can so I was thinking of getting the Mr Gasket 5808, but it has a bore of 4.4". It is for the 351m/400.
There are so many bore sizes, compressed thickness I dont know which to get. I have previously used the cheaper felpro versions.
Ok Thanks. Its not quality I am worried about but rather the different compressed thicknesses.
My engine is 0.30" bored. There are different bores and compressed thicknesses available. I would want a very thin gasket that sealed well and did not need re-torquing.
I have always used the Fel-Pro Performance #1013, but I see where that doesn't fit 2V heads. Auto Zone lists an Edelbrock head gasket with 0.038" compressed thickness. I have never used that head gasket.
