Engine Casing Cast Number 3Z638883
A friend has just acquired a used engine and is trying to get specifics on it.
He tells me the casting number is 3Z638883.
From what I've seen on other posts, this is not an engine ID number.
Does anyone know what this number is?
Where should he look to find the engine ID number?
All I know for sure is it is a Ford V8.

Look above the starter, a flat surface with the numbers. here is a photo of them.
