wont stay running
84 ranger 2.0 wont stay running when you crank it,it will start and run for a couple seconds then quit.it will do this for about 3 or 4 mins ,then it will start and stay running finally.i have changed the plugs the wires the fuel pump and rebuilt the carb.it is definately getting gas,so i believe it is electrical.coil maybe or the distributor,anyone know anything about this,any suggestions would be really apperciated.

It really sounds more like a fuel delivery problem to me. Have you checked fuel pressure & float bowl fuel level, before one of these no run episodes????
What happens when you cycle the ignition switch from off to run (without cranking the engine) several times, say a half dozen times, THEN crank the engine to start it, will it then start & continue to run????

i figured it out.the wiring harness under the ignition in the column was not connecting good.i put the harness backup in the connector clamped it back together,and taped the f>>> out of it .it is great now.thanks
