Anyone familiar with where to tap into the VSS signal on the Windstar. I'm trying to get a speed pulse for a rally computer. Someone had done it, but lost their notes. Anyone with a schematic, let me know where to tap in, and where the module is located.

If it's not too much trouble, I don't get here often, my email is Markw99@adelphia.net
In the 1998 Windstar, the vehicle speed sensor is located on the rear of the transmission (3.0 and 3.8 V6) and generates a signal that is proportional to the speed of the vehicle. There should be two wires connected to it.
One wire is PK/O (Pink with Orange stripe), that ultimately goes to ground, and the DG/W (Dark Green with White Stripe) signal lead that goes to C102, C104, C100 and C101.
The signal lead is connected to the VSS sensor on the rear of the transmission, the Powertrain Control Module, Speed Control Servo, GEM, Instrument Cluster and Overhead Console.
The Speed Control Servo is behind the battery and under the Air Filter, and it could be easier to get to for a connection in the engine compartment.
In the overhead console, the VSS signal is in the stub going to the Compass/Temp Module.
In the Instrument Cluster, the VSS output is sent to the Speedometer.
REMEMBER! This information is only valid for the 1998 Windstar.
