So l'm looking at putting my 6" KC Daylighters behind the grill now, looks like alot of guys going that route. If I go that way I won't have to worry about my plow frame/lights interfering with them on the bumper. Does anyone have some pictures of how they mounted them behind the grill? Did you mount them the right to the fiberglass/plastic piece that runs behind the grill or did you do something else...pictures would be great!
Thanks!
Ted
The fiberglass piece isn't sturdy enough without a bracket to reinforce it. I put 7" behind mine so your KC's will be no problem. My gallery has pics of the lights and the brackets I fabbed up.
I'm looking at doin the same thing. Yours looks great Brad! Not to hijack the thread, but do you have any problems with the heat from the lights melting your grill at all?
Thanks
Rich

Thanks. Mine are an all metal construction, but I seriously doubt you would have any problems with plastic. The only thing I would be cautious about is the wattage used. My 7" IPF lights came with 100 and 55 watt bulbs and the 100 bulbs made the front grill become very warm to the touch.....and it would blind oncoming drivers from over a km away easily.
I dont have any pics yet but i have my 6" lights mounted to the fiberglass without brackets. but they have ruber 2 inch washers so they feel pretty sturdy and i have drove over some rough terrain without any problems. i might fab a bracket for mine one day but for now they work great.
I originally did the same thing, although I never used 2" washers which I'm pretty sure would help with stability. I noticed when driving down rough roads the beams would vibrate...my lights weigh more than your average so I was worried about snapping the fiberglass from fatigue.
Im trying to put a Set of HID's behind the grill on my 1999 F150. Can anyone tell me how to make a bracket to hold them they are same size as 7" KCs. Well any help is greatly appreciated... XTRFORD your bracket is awesome would u mind helping a rookie out?
