The original post said ONE sending unit to monitor BOTH tanks.
Not like FORD already works.
Again to use ONE sending unit to monitor BOTH Tanks, you would need to TWO cross pipes welded laterally between the two tanks > One on the TOP & one on the BOTTOM thus turning it into one tank with double the capacity.
Why you would want to do this I don't know.
I've had a bad sending unit in one tank for 10 years.
You just learn to put gas in and drive accordingly.
I'm not looking to run both tanks at one time. I just want a way to hook up the gas gauge that when i flip the switch from tank to tank that i can use the gas gauge. I would never run the two together that would be dumb.
Okay you didn't mention you wanted to switch them you just said you wanted use the gauge for both.
I assumed you were already aware that Ford ALREADY uses a Tank switching control that allows the fuel gauge to monitor both tanks.
If you only had one tank that would mean you want to make your truck just like a truck that came with TWO tanks.
You will need a fuel tank,wiring,sending units,dash switch,electrical controller.
Use a single pole, double throw toggle switch. Put the gauge wire on the center terminal. One sender to one of the other terminals. The other sender to the remaining terminal.
