Engine Swap
I can't help you with the details, but, if you have the whole donor vehicle you at least have part of the battle won.
Working on the van, even just to remove the parts can test your patience. The top of the engine is next to impossible to get to, and the wiring is complicated. Mark every wiring connector as you remove it. A lot of the connectors will only fit one place but marking them will save a lot of time when putting it back together.
Plan on using "everything" from the donor vehicle. Get up to speed on the computer operation so you know exactly what additional parts if any you will need to transplant.
If you are not familiar with the modular engine, go to that section of this forum. The torque of the spark plugs is critical.
Do not get rid of any part from either vehicle until the entire job is complete and running to your satisfaction.
The computer end of the deal is the nuts when working properly but can drive you nuts when not. I had the intake off of a 2003 4.6 and when reassembled it would start and run for about 1 or 2 seconds and quit. Went through everything and checked all the wiring and all the connections. The diagnostic device that plugs into the harness was no help. After a half day troubleshooting and checking I was able to get the engine to run but just barely by constantly pumping the gas pedal. My brother was in front of the vehicle and placed his hand on the air inlet pipe and the engine stalled. We found out that the connection to the throttle body was loose around the air filter and when connected properly it ran like a top.
So live and learn.
There are a lot of reasons that I have never installed an air cleaner on a repair before the initial startup, but I learned a lesson that day.
That's why you need to keep all of the parts from the donor until finished. You may need something you never thought about to make it run.

I've been told many times that any engine can be swapped into any kind of vehicle as long as you have the correct motor mounts, wiring, etc. this being Ford to Ford it is that much easier as long as you know what you are doing (as posted in previous post).
I've never done any swaps but I'm wishing you the best of luck!
