I've heard that there still is the start and finish lines there, but I've never actually gone down there and checked it out. I may have to. I'm not living on campus anymore so it'll be a "special trip".....
Yea.....I doubt it will happen this weekend. If I do go home (that's where ol blue is resting) there's work to do on the farm....which isn't all bad. I've had this deal for about a year where the amount of money spent generally exceeds the amount coming in.....so I'm all about working and making a buck or five!!! Sometime though, I WILL get down there.....I'll let you and George know.....maybe we could meet up?
Don't want to run your Big Six's? There's a guy here at college....and actually on FTE (goes by the name of The_SnoMan710) that loves the heck outta them things.....swears he's gonna build one to 400 ft-lbs and walk all over things....I tell him to bring the chain.....I figure blue should be pumpin' around 450 ft lbs....
engine is stock (nutless), rearend gears are from 1958 and would prob. explode, and i have a small leak in my radiator which would prob. cause one BIG problem! I'll take it on the track SOMEDAY but not anytime soon
Anyway...just for "grins and giggles" I found the thread containing my build specs. Post #13 has the Desktop Dyno simulation numbers.....I think it MAY be a bit optimistic. None the less: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...390-build.html
Any guess what I'd run with that in a 4800 lb pickup.....traction isn't much of a problem. If I don't do a burnout first I get just a second of rubber off the line.....
im not very smart when it comes to ford power but if your only gonna be running around 9-1 compression I bet that you run a 16 quarter in a pickup with a nice motor with stock gears
I'm running like....9.75:1. I gotta be kinda careful with the timing on 89. Right now I'm running a 3.54 rear end ratio.....I'm thinking that will get changed to a 4.10 as I currenty sit after my best guess of 1/4 mile I'm only at about 4000 rpm.....My motor isn't that wild, but yet it's pretty far from stock.....
