Didn't I read somewhere around here there's a connector in the tilt columns that comes loose? Do you have a tilt column? I found corrosion in the switch on my '95, may or may not be a factor on one so new as yours.... just a couple suggestions.

I have a '96 Explorer and one day the headlights just would not work. The had flickered once or twice, but then the just cut out and would not go on at all. The only way I could get the bulbs to light was to hold down (UP) the quick flash. I changed the headlight switch but it didn't help. I finally changed the multipurpose switch on the steering column. That was the culprit. Everything was fine after that.
