motor swap

I have a 1994 f250 4x4 5 speed with the 5.8L was wondering if any one knows if i can take the motor(460efi) and trans(also a 5 speed) out of a 1988and put it in my 94? i have the wiring and computer off of the 88 and the tranny tails look like they can be changed over as the 94 is a 4x4 and the 88 is a 2wd? has anyone ever done this before? is it doable?

Definitely doable. I don't think there were many changes at all between the wiring for those two trucks.

If you end up doing this project, I might be interested in the engine and tranny you're pulling. Where are you located?

I don't think a 2wd tranny can be converted to a 4wd version without disassembly, there's more to it than removing the tail section.

Although you could run a full-time transfer case, or something of that nature.
